Winter Preps (2) MAKEUP: Switch it up

You’ve noticed from my previous post, as temperatures drop our wardrobe isn’t the only thing that sees some changes.

I’m sure you have already taken the first step to maintaining well hydrated skin all winter long.

In this post, moisturised, dewy skin is the ultimate objective. So … bundle up, grab a hot beverage and read my tips on how to cosmetically combat the cold like a pro.

Primer: This is one product that many of us take for granted but it’s never too late to change your ways. This winter, prime your skin before applying foundation. Applying primer in winter (or any other season) will keep your skin moisturized longer, which is key for flawless and glowing skin.

Foundation: Switch out the powder and mineral foundations for something more hydrating. A cream or lotion foundation would be your best bet at avoiding pronounced dryness.

“Foundations with ingredients like ceramides, oils, antioxidants, and humectants can actually improve dry skin over time by keeping the skin’s barrier healthy and intact so it better retains water in the long term.” – Unknown dermatologist

NB: Check the ingredients of your foundation or consult an instore makeup artist before making a purchase.

Eye shadow: Continuing with swapping powders for creams. Winter is the perfect time to give the cream eye shadows a go. Many people fear creasing in the warmer months, well here is winter, experiment away.

Blush: Switching from a powder to cream blush is an easy way to nail a youthful, lively look.

Lipstick: Chapped lips on a well beat face are never a good look. Ditch the lip stains and go for more hydrating formulas. If not for yourself, do it for the one who kisses those lips 🙂
