Winter Preps (1) SKIN CARE: You are what you eat

“Everything you eat becomes a part of not only your inner being, but the outer fabric of your body as well. The healthier the foods are that you consume, the better your skin will look.” -Samantha Heller.

With winter fast approaching, remember what you let into your mouth reflects on your skin. Layering will only cover up the weight we all tend to gain during this time but honey, there is no way to hide that acne.

Rather than lathering too many creams and cosmetics read along and find out how you can add a natural glow to your skin this winter.

veggies

Drink some H2O

This is one of the best things you can do to keep your skin in shape. It keeps your skin moist and that makes fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. It helps with blood flow, keeping your skin glowing. It also helps your cells take in nutrients and get rid of toxins.

You don’t necessarily have to drink 8 glasses of water a day, the water in your fruits and veggies, juice and milk counts towards the total.

Have some fruits and veggies

In these you get antioxidants that are important to slowing and preventing free- radical damage. Besides the protective effect of fruits and veggies and the radiant skin, a diet rich in fruits and veggies keeps aging at bay.

Healthy oils

Swop your regular oil for a good quality one like extra virgin olive oil. It has more nutrients that are good for your skin. Extra virgin olive oil also helps lube up your skin and keep it looking and feeling healthy.

Coffee

While sticking to drinking 40g of coffee a day is great, it’s just one part of the puzzle. The other is putting it on the surface of your skin.

A coffee facial scrub can help brighten skin, prevent clogged pores, and soften lines. The acid in coffee gives you some chemical exfoliation on top of mechanical exfoliation. It also helps bolter skin’s protective barrier. That’s what keeps you healthy when bacteria, viruses and fungi are landing on your skin 24/7.
